UST speaks up on hacking incident

The University of Santo Tomas released an official statement on the hacking of its UST Museum website.
MANILA, Philippines – The University of Santo Tomas (UST) on Tuesday said the hacking of one of its websites did not affect other online services of the school.
In an official statement released by UST, the university confirmed that the website has been hacked but only the UST Museum's webpage was defaced.
“The University of Santo Tomas Museum Website has been compromised. However, the damage is limited to the said website,” the advisory said.
The university is currently fixing the defaced website and asking its website visitors to bear with them while they address the unfortunate incident.
“We are currently addressing this unfortunate incident. Online access to this site is temporarily unavailable,” UST media advisory added.
The UST Museum Website was hacked on Monday by a suspected Chinese group identified only as "1973CN Team." The group defaced the website to express disapproval over the Philippines and Vietnam’s partnership over the South China Sea row.
